The Tennis Committee yesterday was thinking about getting some board games for the bar, as there’s a bit of a backgammon rivalry in our ranks at the moment.
Before we spend our hard earned club spondoolics on anything it was suggested we ask members if they have any classic board games lurking unused on a shelf that they might like to re-home here?
Perhaps not noisy annoying games like Monopoly, or Operation, (BZZZZ!) but the more thinky games like Chess/Draughts, Backgammon, Scrabble, Rummikub, Othello…that sort of thing? Cards too?
What? You’ve never played Rummikub? Ask Jane O’Neill for a game! She will beat you, but it’s a great game.

Jane O’Neil Further to the Games I brought in, I can also donate an Imperial set of Dominoes and a set of Chessmen if you are interested. (An Imperial Set contains dominoes extending from Double Six (half Set) up to Double Nine. Playing with a full set using a Cribbage Board and scoring 61 points by dividing 5’s & 3’s into the sum of the two end dominoes is a great exercise for the brain. eg- With the two ends being 9 & 6 totaling 15, one scores 8 pts as 15 contains 3-5’s and 5-3’s. I mentioned to Kate this morning at the club that I also have Two Shove Halfpenny Boards, and a Table Skittles Board which I could lend if you think of arranging a pub night of games at the club. Cheers
DAVID (preferable to Dave.
